Ensuring responsible forest management through certification

ForestForest Stewardship Council (FSC) certification system has been around for over 20 years. The FSC issues three different types of certificates: Forest Management, Chain of Custody and Controlled Wood. The different types of certificates relate to different stages of production and subsequent progress of forest products through the value chain. UTGA develops roadmap to pursue FSC Certification

UTGA TrainingThe Uganda Timber Growers Association (UTGA) in collaboration with FSC Africa embarked on the roadmap to meet the Forest Stewardship Council (FSCTM) standard for responsible forestry. UTGA are using the flexibility of the group certification model and starting off with a small pilot group of six members. working towards attaining the certificate by the end of 2018. read more …
