Delegation of FSC visits the Republic of Congo

On the invitation of the His Excellency Henri Djombo, Minister of Forestry and Sustainable Development of the Republic of Congo, an FSC delegation led by FSC’s Director General Kim Carstensen and including FSCs Regional Director for Africa, Chris Burchmore and the FSC Global Network Director, Gemma Boetekees, visited stakeholders in The Republic of Congo from 17 to 20 July 2013. The visit by FSC covered Brazzaville and Pokola, centre of the FSC certified forest concessions of Congolaise Industrie de Bois (CIB) of OLAM. read more …

Appointment of the FSC African Director

FSC international is very pleased to announce that Chris Burchmore has been appointed as FSC’s Regional Director for Africa, starting on the 1st of June. He will establish the Regional Office for Africa in South Africa, and will coordinate the establishment of an East Africa Coordinator and a Congo Basin Coordinator, who will both be part of the African Regional Office. His mission will be to lead and coordinate the establishment and implementation of a FSC African Regional Strategy, in close cooperation with FSC Network Partners in Africa and FSC International. read more …

FSC and PEFC jointly call for rejection of proposal for ISO Chain of Custody Standard for certified forest products

FSC and PEFC, the two organisations together accounting for some 98% of the world’s certified forests and chain of custody certificates, called upon members of the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) to not support a proposal for an ISO standard to be developed for certified forest products as it stands. read more …
