SDG News covering the Democratic Republic of Congo, Cameroon, Gabon and Republic of Congo

Cameroon:

The Draft of the FSC National Standards for the certification of Cameroonian forests has taken into account the observations made by Bureau Veritas, Accredited Certification Body mandated to field-test the Cameroonian Standard in development. Pallisco et Partenaires, a company managing 100% of FSC-FM certified forests in Cameroon since 2008, kindly hosted the field-test.
Now, the Cameroonian Standards Development Group is ready to finalize the Standard, with the Principle 9 in compliance with the Advice note ADVICE-20-007-018 V1-0 for the interpretation of the default clause of Motion 65.
Once the HCV Regional Working Group would have finalized the principles of management of Intact Forest Landscapes within Congo Basin certified concessions, the Cameroonian standard will be definitely set up.

Democratic Republic of Congo:

The Standard Development from DRC will have, by the end of this year, to compile all the comments received by stakeholders on the first draft of FSC National Standard for the certification of forests from DRC. In 2018, possibilities to field-test the standard will be studied.

Now, the Standards Development will have to hold a meeting in October 2017, to compile all the remarks and suggestions done by Bureau Veritas in their field-testing report.
