For a locally relevant certification scheme
In many countries, FSC working groups have developed FSC National or Regional Standards.
It is the case in the Congo Basin, where an FSC working group composed of economic, environmental, social and local stakeholders, has developed a list of appropriate indicators for each criterion to demonstrate compliance with the 10 principles in the regional context.
The conformity assessment of forest management to the FSC P&C is therefore on the basis of these indicators locally adapted by local actors.
Although the indicators of this regional framework are applicable in all the countries of the region, national adaptations of the regional document are possible.
These adaptations are made regarding the applicable national laws and / or the verifiers and / or the identification of High Conservation Value Forests and / or technical vocabulary.
A national adaptation is already ready for Cameroon, click the download below to read it
A national adaptation will be ready soon for Congo Brazzaville.
NB: until a national adaptation is ready in each country of the region, the standard to be used by certification bodies remains the regional standard.
