What did we learn? Here are three key highlights:
- Consumers trust brands that choose FSC
FSC trust extends to sustainability-oriented brands. The research found 90% of consumers in Africa who recognize FSC say they are more likely to trust a brand if it offers FSC-certified products. By choosing FSC, brands promote sustainability while earning environmentally conscious consumers' loyalty and confidence.
- FSC is the most recognized forest certification worldwide
The study highlights FSC's widespread recognition as the leading forest certification system worldwide. Over half (58%) of consumers globally recognize the FSC logo, surpassing all other forest certification schemes tested. Notably, recognition is particularly strong among the 18- to 24-year-old demographic, signifying a growing awareness among the younger generation. In Kenya and South Africa, 57% and 59% of consumers recognize the FSC label.
- Consumers choose FSC with confidence
The study found that over three quarters of consumers (90%) show moderate to high levels of confidence in FSC to protect forests, which is considerably higher than in governments or businesses (companies that make/sell wood/paper products and packaging).
These research findings affirm consumers' choices' power to drive positive change. By aligning with FSC and offering FSC-certified products, your brand continues to be relevant in the growing forest sustainability market—with potential to grow the trust and loyalty of environmentally conscious consumers.
