Zimbabweโ€™s indigenous woodland is in trouble. Up to 330,000 ha are lost every year and around 60,000 ha due to deforestation for agriculture and tobacco.

My Trees Trustโ€™s goal is to reduce natural woodland loss in Zimbabwe, to preserve biodiversity at scale within threatened landscapes. The organization aims to replant, restore, and protect indigenous forests across the country, and provide alternative sources of income for affected communities. 120,000 ha of intact wilderness area is now FSC certified in co-management with My Trees law enforcement and anti-poaching partners.

This follows on from the 20,000 hectares in Zimbabwe certified for the Wattle Company and Border Timbers earlier last year. This marked Zimbabweโ€™s re-entry into FSC.

Additionally, Border Timbers received FSC Chain of Custody certification in March 2023. Three of their plants (sawmills and pole treatment plant) have been included within their certification scope (FSC-C187995).
