The 17 delegates included government officials in Tanzania as well as certification managers from several companies in east Africa. They also included FSC certification managers from Mpingo Conservation Development Initiative (MCDI), New Forest Company and Green Resources.

A similar course was held more recently at Makerere University in Uganda to provide detailed background information to forest certification where participants included FSC certificate holders, contractors, forestry industry representatives and government officials.

FSC has also been invited to participate in a regional training Course on Forest Certification for Eastern Africa and Southern Africa on 7th to 11 December in Mombasa, Kenya. The training is organised by the African Forest Forum (AFF). FSC will be represented by Annah Agasha and Paul Opanga.
