We started 2017 with staff moving onto FSC International roles and have succeeded in filling those positions with new members joining the team. FSC Africa has held a number of training courses across the region with more than 200 participants having received certificates of attendance for both forest management and chain of custody training. FSC International membership in Africa has doubled over the last 12 months with a total of 121 members currently.

We welcome all new members and look forward to your voices being heard across FSC globally by participating in the various FSC working groups and associated processes. Across Africa three National Forest Stewardship Standards have been approved in 2017 and we have seen a standard development group registered from Namibia.
The time has now come to recharge our batteries. Take care on the roads if you are travelling on holiday and enjoy your break.

On behalf of the FSC Board, Management and Staff, I would like to wish all our stakeholders a Merry Christmas and wonderfully rewarding new year.
