About the Co-hosts
- The Forest Stewardship Council (FSC): A global leader in sustainable forestry promoting environmentally responsible, socially beneficial, and economically viable management of the world's forests. Over 160 million hectares of forests worldwide are FSC certified.
- The Central African Forests Commission (COMIFAC): An international organization aiming for sustainable forest management in Central Africa. COMIFAC works with governments, NGOs, and others to implement the Convergence Plan for the decade 2015-2025, which includes a focus on forest certification.
Objectives of the stakeholder meeting
- Discuss the benefits of FSC certification for sustainable wood-based industries in Cameroon and the Congo Basin.
- Support COMIFAC's efforts to promote responsible forest management.
- Explore the creation of a "Congo Basin Stakeholder Consultative Forum" to bring together stakeholders and promote collaboration.
