Progress Kashunda, General Manager for De-bushing Advisory Service in Namibia said the course was an eye-opener especially because the COC system is still in its early stages in his country “This training has been great learning for me especially because our organisation is in the forefront of facilitating discussion about the value of sustainability, so it was good learn about how COC is done so I can take the information forward and raise awareness about what to expect to the people in Namibia”.

The course covered all the important FSC certification standards and how they are applied, the processes to be followed to become certified and how to streamline existing procedures, if you are already certified.

“The course was very informative, when I came here I did not know what FSC entails and how big a monster this is. I am now feeling more confident that although is a bit of work, Twinsaver will be able to achieve certification in the future,” said Phathiswa Bukani, Regional Quality Assurance Manager for Twinsaver-Coastal.
This was the third CoC public awareness session hosted by FSC Southern Africa in 2017. The feedback from participants has been encouraging with peaked interest from key retailers and stakeholders within various supply chains. FSC Southern Africa will schedule 2 sessions in 2018 in South Africa.
