This activity was jointly organized by the Ministry of Forest and the local FAO representation and aimed at repairing the damage caused by a strong storm a few months ago in the IPHAMETRA forest, which had lost about fifty trees on that occasion.
It was also aimed to raise public awareness of the importance of urban forests and their contribution to the well-being of city dwellers.
This operation was entirely in line with the theme of the International Day of Forests 2021: "Forest restoration, a path to recovery and well-being."
This international day also brought together the actors and stakeholders of the forestry sector whose commitment is decisive to restoring forests and ecosystems.
Through its presence, the FSC reiterated its commitment to the Gabonese government and the Ministry of Forests for responsible exploitation of the Gabonese forest.
Finally, in his speech, Professor Lee J. White, Minister of Forests, recalled the ambition of Gabon and its role in responding to climate change at the international level by inviting stakeholders to recreate the link that binds each of us to the forest.
