The meeting will precede the launch of the FSC National Forest Stewardship Standard (NFSS) for the Republic of Uganda that will take place on 4 June 2018.

The two will discuss critical areas of collaboration between FSC and the Ministry, the continued support by the Ugandan government to drive responsible forest management for all growers, the possibility of growing chain of custody of forest products in Uganda using credible tools such as FSC certification, and public procurement.

Following the NFSS launch there will be a study tour of the New Generation Plantation (NGP) platform in Uganda over 4-8 June 2018. The NGP platform is a place to learn about better plantation management through real world experiences, and influence others to follow good examples. NGP brings together leading plantation companies and some government agencies that manage and regulate plantations.
