Nairobi, Kenya – 25 June 2024 – The Forest Stewardship Council™ (FSC™) – committed to protecting the world’s forests through sustainable forestry – is holding its third annual Forest Week from 21 to 27 September. This global campaign is an annual campaign that raises awareness about sustainable forestry, highlighting the Forest Stewardship Council’s (FSC) work and forest stewards’ role in fighting climate change and biodiversity loss. 2024 marks 30 years since we started our mission.
You can be part of this journey by taking the small steps that create big change throughout the week, working to raise awareness and promote FSC’s impact.
FSC™ Forest Week 2023 highlighting the power of small steps in creating big
Last year's successful campaign, themed "Trust the Tree," saw over 1,270 partners from more than 40 countries actively participate in the social media campaign, reaching over 50.5 million consumers worldwide. We also partnered with local influencers in Gabon and Uganda to build local awareness on making sound consumer choices that strengthen sustainability. Additionally, we continued our approach of engaging children in Kenya and South Africa, providing them with insights on how to become environmental stewards from a young age.
"The campaign gave local minds the opportunity to demonstrate their talent and passion for the environment," said Israel Bionyi, Senior Regional Communications Manager, Africa – FSC. "It also gave us a platform to showcase our commitment to protecting forests. We are inspired by the results of the past two years and would like to continue raising awareness about sustainable habits that can make our planet more resilient and protected for future generations."
As consumers increasingly consider the impact of their shopping choices, and favour brands that provide sustainable options, Forest Week is the opportunity to turn consumerism into a force for good. Forests sustain us, and sustainably sourced forest products can help ensure resilient, thriving forests for all, forever.
