George Akwah Neba will join the team and settle in Libreville Gabon and will oversee all Congo Basin activities.

George has more than 20 years of experience in driving natural resources management and forestry, biodiversity conservation, climate change and sustainable development processes in Central Africa, West Africa, Eastern Africa, Latin America and Southeast Asia, and at the global policy level. George’s experience has been dominantly with leading international organizations such as IUCN, WWF, CIFOR, and IITA. Prior to joining FSC, he was the UICN’s Regional Programme Coordinator for Central and West Africa. Having been involved with the Congo Basin forest management dynamic since 1998, George has participated intensively in the forest governance efforts of the region in the framework of the CBFP (Congo Basin Forest Partnership). George is an Environmental Anthropologist and Public Policy and Management expert. He is experienced in and is an advocate of collaborative and multi-stakeholder policy and practice approaches as a way to sustainability.
