Freshpact trays are 100% commonly recyclable and biodegradable and will help clients navigate from single-use plastics towards their sustainability goals.

These fresh produce trays offer a sustainable packaging solution for premium presentation of clients’ produce. Already leading national retailers have rolled out the trays in their fresh produce departments and export channels into single-use plastic ban areas such as Mauritius have remained open due to the use of these trays.

Made from single flute kraft construction, these trays are structurally strong to withstand the rigors of automated packaging lines and condensation from chilled foods. The board is made from food-safe materials and approved for direct food contact, and manufactured in an ISO accredited food-safe facility for total assurance to clients. There are custom print and board construction options available for retail client’s individual brand preferences. The trays allow for more natural presentation and there is no compromise to freshness and shelf-life.

The carton board is sustainably and ethically sourced locally through Forest Stewardship Council® (FSC®) certified Chain of Custody.

Recyclable and biodegradable, the trays can be recycled straight through common kerbside collection, or through normal Mpact Recycling Channels, or composting routes.

Mpact Paper Division manufactures recycled-based packaging and industrial paper grades such as containerboard and carton board. The division comprises three mills, Felixton, Piet Retief and Springs, all of which carry the ISO 14001 and ISO 9001 certification. All the mills, Felixton, Piet Retief and Springs, also carry FSC certification under an Mpact Group Multi-site scheme (FSC-C004834). This emphasises the responsible management of raw materials throughout the product lifecycle of their products. In line with this, virgin pulp used in their white-lined products are sourced from FSC certified mills and fibrous raw material from FSC Certified Suppliers and controlled sources.
The Group's customers for packaging and industrial paper include corrugated board and box producers which require containerboard, such as their own corrugated division (FSC-C133590), which produces the Freshpact trays, and other containerboard converters. Cartonboard is sold to folding carton and other producers of industrial products and other uses such as cards and book covers.
