Signed at the end of November 2025, the three-month programme will enable SIB to support three forest enterprises in accelerating their progress toward effective and auditable compliance with FSC standards. The programme includes technical training, institutional strengthening, stakeholder engagement, and tailored field coaching.
This initiative is grounded in SIB’s long-standing experience with forest operations, certification processes, and collaborative work with local actors across the Congo Basin. It responds to priority needs identified by FSC and supports Gabon’s commitment to responsible forest management.
A targeted and practical approach
The programme combines tailored training, gap assessment, and on-site coaching to support the effective implementation of FSC requirements. It also includes engagement with communities and rights holders, and continuous monitoring to capture lessons learned and inform future improvements.
Expected outcomes
The initiative is designed to:
- Strengthen technical and operational capacity of forestry personnel
- Improve readiness of companies for FSC certification audits
- Enhance collaboration between operators, communities, and institutions
- Contribute to sustainable forest management in Gabon
A step towards responsible forestry
SIB's goal is to bridge the gap between standards and practice; by equipping companies and communities with tools they can apply in real field conditions.
This partnership marks a concrete step toward scaling good practices that benefit ecosystems, workers, and local communities.
