Dr. Subhra Bhattacharjee named Director General of the Forest Stewardship Council International

On behalf of the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC), the FSC International Board of Directors is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Subhra Bhattacharjee as the new Director General, effective 01 October 2024.

In September 2023, the Forest Stewardship Council® (FSC®) celebrated Forest Week 2023 in two Congo Basin countries. In Cameroon and Gabon, where FSC held activities, the campaign reached over 300 people.

A charcoal producer on top of the world

On a chilly Friday in June, Bongiwe Mafuya pulled on her facemask and signed an agreement with FSC® outside the ERS offices near Matatiele. She was joining the CMO Group Scheme, through which FSC-certified charcoal from her emerging business, KwaBhaca Nature Solutions (KwaBhaca means the home of the Bhaca tribe), will be sold into export markets.
